Thanksgiving 2005

For the first time in countless years, I’m actually looking forward to Thanksgiving.

A friend and I have planned a full afternoon of frolic, starting with this town’s community dinner, to be followed by a film.
Neither of us have tried this dinner before, but it sounds nice – the venue is a lakeside dining room at a local campground.
This means we don’t have to travel far, a big deal since they are predicting rain for the day, and possibly even snow in the morning.
It also means neither of us has to put up with that horrible, fifth-wheel feeling in someone else’s house where all the Sadies smugly take over the kitchen (in their eyes, unmarried = incompetence at washing a dish, go figure) and all the Sadie-mates take over the TV and “serious” conversation (in their eyes, female, regardless of marital status = stupid moron).
One down. Christmas and New Year’s to go.
