Sometimes It Takes So Little…

…. to make it a good day.
Like, having central heating that works, indoor plumbing, hot water, reliable electricity, fast internet.
Okay, these are not LITTLE things, as we are reminded in the news reports from Baghdad.

What prompts this post, though, is the happy experience of doing a dump run with practically NO ONE else around.
Sounds stupid, doesn’t it?
Given that the Transfer Station was closed for most of this week following the record snowfall (was it only last Sunday/Monday?), I figured for sure it’d be a mob scene today, worse than the weekend after Christmas. It wasn’t. Peter and I were able to unload a pile of recycleables and a week’s worth of trash without any delays.
Yeah, that made it a pretty good day. But not as good as a beachfront cabana in Tahiti – C’MON.
Speaking of things exotic, I happened to catch the 2002 film “Unfaithful” on TV with a gorgeous cast (Diane Lane, Richard Gere, Olivier Martinez), gorgeous backgrounds (Soho and an estate in White Plains, NY) and an even more gorgeous soundtrack.
For unimaginable reasons, the movie’s own website doesn’t provide music credits, but a couple of fans did so on Amazon.
So, here’s a few more CD’s with featured cuts to add to the desert island list:
Ali Farka Toure – Talking Timbuktu – “Ai Du”
Dead Can Dance – Spiritchaser – “Devorzhum” and “Dedicace Outo”
E.S. Posthumus – Unearthed – “Nara” (available either on their website AND on iTunes)
Moby – Play – “Rushing”
By the way, “Nara” is the theme for the TV show “Cold Case”. And, proof of versatility, E.S. Posthumus also wrote the theme for “The NFL on CBS”.
There, after 14 months of blogging, I’ve FINALLY posted a snippet of music trivia…
