Gardener’s Diary

Gone, gone, gone.

We had some cold and very windy days/nights this past week, and the impatiens are done, as well as the dahlias.
As a result, while the pinks are barely hanging on, and the mums and verbena still look fresh, 3 of the planters are a depressing mess of dead annuals.
On a brighter note, I redid P&B’s flower boxes last weekend, pulling out the silks that had been there since the spring. I was able to ferret out four perfect little yellow mums and 8 tiny pumpkins at my favorite garden spot in Falmouth, and these are still intact and cheerful.
Last night I was kid-sitting at P&B’s, and spotted a fat possum raiding one of their trash cans. Up to then, we thought it was only raccoons – P said, another mouth to feed!
