Gardener’s Diary

Well, thanks to the dampening effect of the land mass known as Long Island, the vestiges of Hurricane Charlie pelted us with just a couple of brief periods of driving rain, thus sparing the garden from significant damage – but what a day for kites!


Note to self: buy more Coleus for the planters next year, it loves the conditions on the deck.
Once again, except for maybe the top six inches of their stems, the Montauks have yellow and browning leaves. The fairy rose has lost about half its leaves.
