Grandson Was Right

Yesterday I took off the afternoon to keep my grandsons company while their Mom brought their sister to a doctor’s appointment.

This is a busy week, and last evening, I had the choice of either going back to the office, or attending a cocktail reception for UMass alumni at an oceanfront home in Pocasset.
On a whim, I asked my social grandchild, James, aged 4, what I should do: go to work or go to the party. He cracked a smile and replied, “Go to the PARTY” (actually, he pronounced it more Long Island style, “POHTY”, where this child gets his New York accent, I can’t imagine).
James was right, the party was terrific. I met a charming couple who have worked in high tech management for most of their adult lives, and was very entertained by their stories, not to mention delighted (as was everyone else) by the elegant canapes and beautiful view from our hostess’s living room.
Smart kid, James, thanks!
