Gardener’s Diary

Start of week 3 with the new grass. Yesterday, I overseeded the bare areas, fewer than I thought would be needed, with some seed that has been in the basement here for years. It’ll be interesting if it “takes”. If it doesn’t, I still have time to use something else.
Spent a good part of the day at nurseries: the East Sandwich Agway, who were participating in a multi-business Route 6A open house, and Mahoney’s, who were running gardening seminars. Got a lot of excellent info on composting, bulbs, lawns and winter prep.

Planted a couple of mums Mahoney’s gave me for free, filled in the front with coreopsis and some tiny, exquisite, deep blue Delphs. Hoping Peter can help me with the Miss Kim today.
Fluffles did extremely well at the groomer’s this week, and it looks like we’ve found a good vet, a cat-owner himself. At age 16, Fluffles is the equivalent of a human 80 year old.
James and Emme stayed over this past Friday, and after an omelet and waffle breakfast, we attended the Bourne Historical Society’s biennial Harvest Fest. Lots of good food and drink, and the kids made crafts, including a cute scarecrow that James gave me for the garden.
Peter was ecstatic, he and Bonnie had great card readings last week.
Autumnal Equinox at 5:18 PM tomorrow.
