Blather

Peter was fulminating the other day about how politicians mangle the truth via distortion and deliberate misinterpretation. I’d add the media to that list of master scam artists.

This morning, Google News published the following headline: “McCain raises specter of nuclear war” followed by “John McCain raised the specter of nuclear war as he struggled to overcome rival Barack Obama’s widening lead in the polls with just 14 days left in the epic race to the White House.”
The implication of that lead-in is of course that McCain is being irresponsible by trying to scare the American public.
This, of course, ignores the fact that Obama’s running mate, Joe Biden, opened that particular can of worms a couple of days ago.
It also pulls McCain’s remarks out of context.
Some day, someone is going to write a book about all this.
